A Complete Front Yard Transformation Built to Last
When homeowners in Bothell, WA call us about their driveway, it’s usually not just about looks. It’s about cracks, settling, drainage concerns, and wanting something that actually adds value to the home.
That was exactly the case with this recent paver driveway and front walkway installation in Bothell. The existing concrete had seen better days. It was worn, dated, and starting to show signs of movement. The front entry path also needed an upgrade to better match the character of the home.
Our goal? Build something stronger, cleaner, and designed to last for decades — not just a few seasons.
The Plan: A Durable, Clean-Lined Paver Driveway
For this project, we installed Belgard Origins 12 pavers in a natural, blended color palette that complements the home’s warm exterior tones. The pattern keeps things classic and structured, while the subtle color variation adds depth and dimension.
To frame the driveway, we used a double runner border in a contrasting charcoal tone. That border does two things:
- Adds crisp visual definition
- Helps lock the field pavers together structurally
It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in both strength and curb appeal.
In total, we transformed over 665 square feet of driveway space, plus the connecting walkway and entry steps — tying everything together so the front yard feels cohesive instead of pieced together.
What Makes a Paver Driveway in Bothell Different?
In the Pacific Northwest — and especially here in Bothell — soil movement and heavy rain are real factors. A driveway isn’t just decorative. It has to handle moisture, freeze-thaw cycles, and vehicle weight.
Here’s what goes into every Sta-Built driveway installation:
1. Deep Excavation
For vehicular areas, we excavate approximately 12 inches below grade to remove unstable material.
2. Compacted Gravel Base
We install and compact 8–9 inches of crushed aggregate to achieve up to 95% compaction. That’s what prevents sinking and shifting later on.
3. Proper Drainage Slope
We grade the base to ensure proper water runoff — typically ¼ inch per foot — directing water away from the home.
4. Geotextile Fabric
This adds stability, helps prevent weed intrusion, and keeps the gravel separated from native soil.
5. Concrete Bond Beam Border
The border is set in concrete to create a strong edge restraint system that keeps everything locked in.
This isn’t a surface upgrade. It’s a structural rebuild from the ground up.
Upgrading the Front Walkway & Steps
The driveway wasn’t the only focus. We also rebuilt the front walkway and entry steps, connecting the driveway to the front door with the same Belgard Origins 12 pavers for continuity.
We incorporated:
- Curved walkway lines for a softer approach to the entry
- Proper step rise (within code range of 4.5”–7.5”)
- 12-inch deep treads for comfortable footing
- Marina coping caps for a finished, clean edge detail
We also added a subtle retaining wall element with matching block to support grade changes and create a more defined entry.
The result feels intentional — not like separate projects added over time.

Why More Bothell Homeowners Are Choosing Pavers Over Concrete
Concrete cracks. It stains. And when it fails, repairs are often obvious and patchy.
Interlocking pavers offer:
- Flexibility that handles soil movement
- Easier repair (individual pavers can be replaced)
- Better drainage
- Higher-end curb appeal
- Long-term durability
For many homeowners in Bothell, a paver driveway isn’t just an upgrade — it’s a long-term investment in the home’s value and functionality.
