Sta-Built Construction installed 1,045 square feet of SB-RealFeel artificial turf at a home in Beaverton, OR from June 29 to July 1, 2026. The turf replaced a dry, patchy lawn that wrapped around the house, from the side yard past the air conditioner and across the backyard, under a trampoline and out to a raised deck.

Before and after

After: the same side yard on July 1, turf from the house to the edging along the fence.

The problem

This lawn was not one rectangle. It turned the corner of the house, from a long, narrow side yard along the fence into an open backyard with a trampoline, a raised composite deck, a row of arborvitae, and a garden well decoration in one corner. The June 2 site visit photos show thin grass and bare soil under the trampoline and along the fence, and by the June 16 measuring visit much of the lawn had gone brown.

The solution

The work order replaces the lawn with 1,045 square feet of turf in one continuous install around the house. Because the layout changes width from the narrow side yard to the open backyard, the SB-RealFeel was ordered as five cut lengths, from 13 to 28 feet, rather than a few full rolls. The trampoline stays where it was and the turf runs under it, and the turf meets the deck and the arborvitae bed along their edges.

The materials

The turf is SB-RealFeel, supplied by Rymar. The same material order lists seam tape and turf glue for joining the cut lengths, turf nails for securing the edges, and infill for the finished surface. The base is crushed rock, and black edging runs along the fence line to hold the turf edge.

How it was built

On June 29 the crew dug out the old lawn with a compact track loader, starting along the fence in the side yard. The same day the crushed rock base was spread through the side yard and the backyard and compacted with a plate compactor, and the black edging was set along the fence. On June 30 the base was finished and graded in the morning, and the turf was down by that afternoon. The completion photos were taken July 1.

The finished result

Artificial turf under a trampoline and around a raised deck in a Beaverton, OR backyard
July 1: turf under the trampoline and out to the deck, where the June photos showed bare soil.

The brown and bare lawn is now one turf surface running from the side yard around the corner of the house, under the trampoline, and up to the deck, with the edge held along the fence line.

What a project like this costs

Project investment range: $15,800 to $24,900. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.

For 1,045 square feet, the shape mattered as much as the size. A layout that turns from a narrow side yard into an open backyard took five cut lengths of turf to seam together, and it has far more edge to secure than the same area in one open rectangle.
