The turf went in as three sections, per the job checklist, including the lawn below the deck and a long strip along a concrete walk and block wall toward the water. The crew photos run from the January 2 site visit to the finished turf on January 23.

Before and after

After, January 23: the same area in Real Feel turf, cut to the edge of the concrete.

The problem

The lawn sits between the house and the water, below a deck held up by tall posts, with concrete walks on two sides and a block wall along a third. In the January 2 photos the grass is green but uneven, with several patches dug down to bare soil near the water’s edge. The job file does not record what dug them up.

The solution

The plan replaced the grass with artificial turf in three sections. The job checklist marks the turf measurements “excellent (3 sections)”, calls for Real Feel turf with a plastic border, and flags that site access was unclear from the sales photos, which matters on a waterfront lot reached by narrow paths and stairs.

The materials

The job’s records hold no itemized material list, so the details here come from the job checklist and the photos. The turf is Real Feel. The photos show the base as gray crushed rock spread over the dug-out lawn area, and two rolls of turf delivered down the side walk on January 21. The checklist lists a plastic border.

How it was built

By January 21 the grass was gone and crushed rock was spread across all three sections, around the deck posts and up to the concrete walks. The turf rolls were staged on the side walk the same day.

The turf was down and finished by January 23, cut around the deck posts and along the concrete and the block wall.

The finished result

The lawn below the deck and the strip toward the water are now even turf from edge to edge, with no bare patches.

What a project like this costs

Project investment range: $11,300 to $17,800. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.

The job file does not record the total square footage, so this range is for the three sections as built rather than a per-foot rate. Access to a waterfront lot, cuts around the deck posts, and edges along concrete and a wall all add labor to a turf job of this size.
